11 December, from 11.30am onwards: Christmas brunch
On Sunday, 11 December 2022, from 11.30am to 3.30pm, Café Maa hosts a brunch inspired by the traditional recipes of Christmas in the Nordic countries.
When the cold winter knocks on the door, Christmas responds with joy and comfort. Candlelights on the window sill, cheerful decorations, and the woody scent of the Christhmas tree mark the most hearty and festive time of the year. Explore this merry and generous atmosphere with our unique menu, specially designed for this tasty and pleasant occasion.
On a Finnish Christmas table it’s common to find a traditional rosolli salad that is made from seasonal vegetables, bringing a touch of freshness to the otherwise hearty Christmas dinner. During the festive season it is also common to prepare a comforting rice porridge garnished with sugar and cinnamon. Traditionally an almond is hidden in the porridge and the lucky one who finds it can make a wish…
Take part in this moment to taste our Nordic specialities, made from natural and seasonal ingredients. Spark your senses with a delightful saffron brioche, and cheer up your tastebuds with the round and comforting flavours of our winter dishes.
Café Maa promotes Finnish culinary culture in Paris. Its Finnish chef Alexandra Marschan-Claude, based in Paris for thirty years, is inspired by the traditional Nordic recipes.

Brunch at Café Maa
This autumn, Café Maa’s chef Alexandra Marschan-Claude and her team take us on a Nordic culinary tour through a series of gourmet brunches with menus evolving with the season, a first at Institut finlandais. On the occasion, Café Maa will be exceptionally open on the following Sundays: 2 October, 20 November and 11 December.
Early October, the first brunch embodies post-summer vitality and the colourful palette of the seasonal change, echoing the exhibition Carte blanche à Hanna Anonen presented at Institut finlandais. In November, the second brunch pays tribute to the wild and idyllic Finnish nature, and to the tradition of berry and mushroom picking in the forest. Come December, the third brunch launches the end of the year festivities, taking inspiration from a typical Finnish Christmas meal, a chance to visit the exhibition Listen to the Forest that Grows – Season II in our gallery.
Through this brunch series, Café Maa reaffirms its intention to serve healthy and tasty food in harmony with nature’s rhythm and its changing seasons. Each brunch is also offered as a vegetarian version.
Brunch by reservation only.
