Visions Nordiques – French Nordic Film Days
Nordic film festival from March 5 to 9 at the Cinéma Le Grand Action in Paris
From 5 to 9 March 2025, the first edition of Visions Nordiques invites us to explore the richness of Nordic cinema, through a selection of Icelandic, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish and Finnish films. Although these countries are unique, they are connected by their Nordic identity. They share common characteristics and themes that reflect in their cinema, especially through the raw landscapes, the complex and introverted characters, the search for light, the audacity or the melancholy.
The festival celebrates acclaimed filmmakers, but above all it is a platform for new talents, and the visions of tomorrow’s filmmakers. This first edition of Visions Nordiques will open on 5 March with Touch by Baltasar Kormákur and will offer French premieres of Love (The Oslo Trilogy) by Dag Johan Haugerud (in competition at the Venice Film Festival), Silent Trilogy by Juho Kuosmanen, as well as a retrospective of modern classics including Breaking the Waves by Lars Von Trier, Le Havre by Aki Kaurismäki and Cairo Conspiracy by Tarik Saleh.
Alongside the public screenings will be held the first French Nordic Film Days, a professional event bringing together producers, directors, distributors and other industry professionals from the Nordic countries and France. This professional component, including panels, discussions and workshops, aims to strengthen ties between the French and Nordic film industries, open up new opportunities for collaboration and provide a space for innovation and reflection.
These professional days are initiated by The Five Nordics (the five film institutes), the French National Centre for Cinema and the Moving Image (CNC), Institut suédois, in collaboration with Institut français in Sweden and with the support of the Nordic Council of Ministers, the embassies of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden in France.
