This autumn, Institut finlandais has the pleasure to support three performances as part of our TelepArt programme:

Maija Kauhanen is a musician who sings and plays kantele, a wooden string instrument that is widely used in Finnish folk music. With this traditional instrument, Kauhanen creates one of a kind soundscapes that combine folk music with contemporary sounds and rhythms. Maija Kauhanen will perform in the cultural centre L’Hermine in Sarzeau, France, 8 November 2022. Immerse yourselves in Finnish sauna culture with the Baby Sauna performance by Loiske Ensemble, at the L’Hermine cultural centre in Sarzeau 22 & 23 November 2022 and at the Finnish cultural centre Rati Riti Ralla in Bois de Bellefontaine 26 November 2022. Loiske Ensemble offers immersive cultural experiences where children can discover the ambiance of sauna by using all of their senses. Book your tickets for the performance at l’Hermine here.

Mirja Mäkelä is a Finnish jazz vocalist who has been active in the music industry since 1992. She has been selected as the best jazz vocalist in Finland many times and has played in numerous jazz festivals all around the world. During her impressive career, Mäkelä has led several jazz groups and recorded five studio albums. Her project, Mirja Mäkelä Trio, brings together three of the best Finnish jazz musicians and captivates its audience with original sounds mixed with Finnish poetry. The trio’s repertoire consists mainly of Mäkelä’s own compositions. Mirja Mäkelä Trio will perform at the L’Hermine cultural centre in Sarzeau, France, on 27 November 2022. Book your tickets here.
