The fifteenth edition of La Finlande en 3 films will take place from 29 September to 1 October at the Reflet Médicis cinema. Four feature films all released in 2022 and 2023 are on the programme this year: Karaoke Paradise (Karaokeparatiisi) by Einari Paakkanen, Super Furball Saves the Future (Supermarsu 2) by Joona Tena, Girl picture (Tytöt, tytöt, tytöt) by Alli Haapasalo and The Echoes of the Universe – The Music of Kaija Saariaho (Universumin kaiut – Kaija Saariahon musiikki) by Riitta Rask. The event is supported by the Finnish Film Foundation and organised by Irmeli Debarle in partnership with Dulac cinéma.

This documentary explores how karaoke can be an outlet for Finns reluctant to express their emotions. The film was awarded the Best Documentary of the Year 2022 prize in Finland in 2023.

La Finlande en 3 films presents a children’s film for the first time. Adapted from a novel by Paula Noronen, this is an adventure film set against a backdrop of ecology and bullying at school.

The film focuses on three young women on the cusp of adulthood who are discovering pleasure and first love. Girl Picture has won numerous awards, including the Audience Award at the Sundance Festival and the Best Finnish Fiction Film Award in 2022.

The Echoes of the Universe – The Music of Kaija Saariaho (Universumin kaiut – Kaija Saariahon musiikki), Riitta Rask (2023)
French subtitles, 80′
Filmed between 2019 and 2022, this documentary focuses on the life and music of composer Kaija Saariaho (1952-2023). Through a series of interviews with Kaija Saariaho, her colleagues and her family, it provides a unique insight into her career and her work.
