JAZZYCOLORS 2026
Linda Fredriksson & Tuomo Prättälä
Thursday, 19 November 2026 – 8PM
Institut finlandais
As part of Jazzycolors 2026, organized by FICEP – Forum des Instituts Culturels Étrangers in Paris, Institut finlandais welcomes two distinctive figures from Finland’s jazz scene: Linda Fredriksson and Tuomo Prättälä.
This evening will be an opportunity to discover two leading artists from Finland’s inventive jazz scene, while also celebrating a century of jazz in Finland and its enduring influence on the country’s musical culture.
LINDA FREDRIKSSON, SAXOPHONE
Linda Fredriksson is an award-winning Finnish saxophonist, composer and improviser, and one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Nordic jazz. Known for their expressive sound and fearless, versatile approach, they have performed with leading Finnish and international artists and groups including Mopo, Ricky-Tick Big Band and Superposition.
Fredriksson’s acclaimed debut solo album, Juniper (2021), established them as a major new voice in jazz. The album won both the Emma Award for Best Jazz Album and Finland’s prestigious Teosto Prize in 2022. Fredriksson has also been named a DownBeat Rising Star on baritone saxophone for four consecutive years.
Based in Finland and active across jazz, contemporary music and the performing arts, Fredriksson works with alto and baritone saxophone, flute and bass clarinet, creating music that moves freely between improvisation, composition and experimentation.
TUOMO PRÄTTÄLÄ, KEYBOARD
Tuomo Prättälä is a Finnish pianist, keyboardist, singer, composer and producer whose work crosses jazz, soul/R&B, Americana, indie rock and contemporary classical music. Prättälä’s music is defined by an open-ended approach to genre, sound and collaboration.
Beginning his career in jazz, Prättälä has become known for his work across a wide range of musical contexts. He has recorded and toured with leading Finnish jazz artists such as Timo Lassy, Linda Fredriksson and Verneri Pohjola, and produced Pohjola’s acclaimed album Monkey Mind. As Tuomo, his solo project, he has released soul-influenced albums that have topped the Finnish charts and gained international recognition. His broader practice also encompasses experimental electronic music and contemporary composition, including MOD (2022), written for symphony orchestra and Moog synthesizers.
