The Dialogue exhibition at Maison Louis Carré is an encounter between Nordic and Japanese design cultures.

Designed in 1959 by Finnish architects Alvar and Elissa Aalto for art collector Louis Carré, Maison Louis Carré provides an intimate and historical setting for this exhibition that explores contemporary design.

The Dialogue exhibition brings together the Japanese brand minä perhonen, known for its approach that combines artisanal techniques and organic forms, with Finnish designer Esa Vesmanen, whose creations embody minimalism and design purity. Founded by Akira Minagawa, minä perhonen is greatly inspired by Nordic ideals. The collaboration between Vesmanen and Minagawa, which began in 2019, has resulted in a series of innovative creations that redefine the characteristics of Nordic modernism.

The exhibition curator, Marianna Wahlsten, shows us how an intercultural approach can reinvent Alvar Aalto’s legacy through contemporary perspectives.

On 29 September, Maison Louis Carré will launch the exhibition with public discussions on the theme of interculturality and its significance in the world of design.
