Institut finlandais in Paris Design Week
In September, Institut finlandais will take part in Paris Design Week. From September 6th to 15th, you will be able to visit numerous international design events organized around the city. At Institut finlandais, we will present a collection of Finnish design entitled “Juhlat”, curated by Katja Hagelstam and a commissioned artwork “Reflection painting, gold” by Renata Jakowleff. In the café, you can discover the new Nordic minimalist tendencies through the interiors and furniture designed by Studio Joanna Laajisto and manufactured by Made by Choice.
Nordic design is well present also in other parts of Paris. Linda Bergroth will discuss Finnish creativity with Anne-France Berthelon at the Maison & Objet fair this Sunday, September 9th. NID will organize a pop-up store called Back to Basics between September 8th and 15th, where they present some of the up and coming designers from Finland and Estonia. The concept store Merci will take us to four different continents in their exhibition “Global Design Scouts”, where traditional design from Finland, Japan, the USA and Morocco will be shown. In the exhibition, the Finnish textile artist Johanna Gullichsen sheds light on the Finnish know-how and design through her selection.
